Bells & Whiskers FAQs

To find out which of our bandanas would best fit your pet, you can either; measure around their existing collar up to the buckle and D ring, or measure around your pet’s neck, leaving a two-finger gap for a comfortable fit.  Ideally, you don’t want to cover the collar fastening or D ring as this makes attaching the lead difficult.  If your pet doesn’t wear a collar, why not consider our popper bandanas, which are best worn without a collar and the poppers offer an adjustable fit feature.  Please feel free to get in touch with our team should you have any queries.

At Bells & Whiskers, we offer a great range of pet collars from bridle leather, recycled webbing to soft polyweave collars – all manufactured in England. When choosing a collar for your puppy, we suggest measuring around your puppies neck, giving a two-finger allowance for a comfortable fit. Deciding which collar to purchase is very much a personal choice but we’re confident you’ll find what you’re looking for from carefully selected collection of collars. If you need further help, take the necessary measurements, drop us an email and we’d be happy to make some recommendations for you.

We know that not all pets wear a collar and at Bells & Whiskers, we try to accommodate all manner of breeds and styles. Our collar bandanas do require a collar for the bandana to attach to whereas our poppered bandanas don’t as they are attached around the neck and secured using poppers. Any questions, please get in touch and we’d be happy to help.

All of our pet bow ties come as a standard size and can accommodate collar widths of up to 3cm [approx]. They are attached to your collar using the twin elastic straps. If you require a smaller bow tie, please get in touch with approx size requirements and our Team will do their best to help.

Leather is a natural, porous product and if the leather becomes wet, some colour run of the natural dye may happen. Leather collars should not be saturated with water. If the collar becomes saturated, allow it to air-dry naturally and do not use heat to speed the drying process. To keep the item in good shape, we recommend treating with a leather conditioner annually.

Yes, you can wash your fabric collars & leads. We would suggest washing them on a low temperature or delicate setting. Hot water shrinks cotton so allowing them to air dry is best and reshape whilst damp to keep them in tip-top condition.

Yes, absolutely!  We know how important the safety of your cats are, which is why at Bells & Whiskers® we ensure all of our kitten and cat collars are created with quality, safety breakaway buckles, regardless of the style and shape. As variations exist in the weight required to activate the breakaway function, with some styles offering a release as low as 6lbs, we always recommend young cats/kittens are supervised during use of any collar (and never use elastic or fixed buckles). The breakaway buckle mechanism is designed to enhance safe usage of your new collar, but in all cases, you should satisfy yourself with regard to suitability for your feline & cicurmstances of use.
